I came across one of my old journals tonight.
The cover of the journal pictures an angel grinning as she holds up a pencil, with curly-que words forming the phrase, “Sing the song of your Soul!”
Within the pages of this particular journal, that is surely what I did. There are sketches of dresses, dreams I had that I remembered to write down, songs I had written, and even silly confessions about my past crushes, or rather crush. Yeah, I pretty much just focused on one… #obsessivetweengirl
Anywho, what I would like to share tonight is the mini series I accidentally began for myself, I wrote down a Bucket list each year. I started this journey at age 13. The list is as follows:
- Surf
- Marry my childhood crush (kiss him too!)
- Meet the Jonas Brothers
- Live in Medieval times/colonial times/just old time (movie acting)
- Start a fire with a magnified glass/mirror
- Live adventurously for some time in the forrest.
- Learn to play guitar better (I miss you by Miley)
- Go to Good Counsel
- Bein movie/commercial/TV Show/ Print Ad
I got quite a chuckle at some of the things listed. I was also quite surprised on how much of the silliness I actually accomplished. The first four unfortunately are still left unchecked. Funny, I think my childhood crush would have pronounced his undying live for me by now, but eh, win some you lose some. In his case, LOSE some. But, no hurt feelings. I never got around to getting better at the guitar either. Its not that I gave up, I just learn to accept myself and all my musical shortcomings.
I did manage to start a fire with a magnified glass. It was in my friends drive way, I caught one leaf on fire for a brief time, however in the short amount of time I also managed to burn an ant alive. (i’m sorry!)
I also lived adventurously in the forrest for some time! I’m not sure what exactly what I meant at the time, with my brain at 13 I was definitely picturing Peter Pan/Mullet Fingers-from-Hoot type living in the woods. However, I crossed of this item on the list when I was a sophomore in high school attending Coastal Studies for Girls in Freeport. ME. We went river canoeing for a week camping on river bank in the middle of no where. It was amazing. And undeniably adventurous.
I did attend Good Counsel (a private high school) and, would you look at that, I graduated too! Over achievers, virtual high-five!
As for that last one, I have been in a couple movies. One of which was filmed at my high school! I definitely pictured something much more glamourous when I made this list, but hey it was fun enough for me!
Thats all for this post, be sure check back later on in the week to see my Bucket List from age 14 🙂
