2016 Travel: New Orleans

NEW CITY NEW CITY NEW CITY!

I have a map of the world on the wall in my room. As I travel to a new place, I stick a classic red pin in the location on the map. New Orleans is my latest red pin addition!

Titties, alcohol, music, seafood, and restaurants are among the daily sights and experiences one might have. Over all, New Orleans had an abundance of two things: color, and character.

We, my family and I, spent most of our time in our fancy and Historic hotel, the Roosevelt, mostly because breakfast and lunch was included (score). When we did venture away from the white robes and golden hallways, it wasn’t hard to get around. We were right off Canal Street, blocks away from the French Quarter and the Mississippi. The flora was luscious and tropical. The fauna included all kinds of tourists and a new kind of pick-pocketers I hadn’t experienced, gentlemen who guess where you got your shoes from with over flowing confidence. On one side of the street you could see old women with Louis Vitton purses browsing past antique shops, and on the other, day drunks without shoes dancing in the streets. In New Orleans, any thing goes.

As far as food, being vegan makes things a little tricky. Heavy Cream and Butter accompany almost every dish. Things like pigs-lips and canned alligator line the shelves. Most of the time I ended up eating plates of whatever seasonal fruits and vegetables establishments had or plates of rice and beans. People tried their best to be accommodating and my family made sure I was well fed. And I was!

You can see more of what I ate in the video below. Be sure to subscribe!
